If there is one thing about the folks in the Deep South of the United States, it’s that we really know how to cook and eat well. Our recipes go back several generations and also some are of recent origin. Whether it’s seafood, country breakfast, or cool refreshing drinks to slake our thirst, we’ve been at creating fantastic meals for a long time. Some of these are common recipes like grits and eggs. Others are our special concoctions passed down from our grandmothers and great grandmothers. So read up on our recipes, make yourself a grocery shopping list and head to town for the supplies. Stoke up the stove and ya’ll get cookin’ .

Betty’s family has lived in Louisiana and Mississippi for generations and has lived in Louisiana all her life. She has inherited numerous recipes from members of her family and learned to cook at a young age from her mother and grandmother. From them, she learned many Cajun and Creole recipes in addition to traditional country cooking. Family reunions were a regular part of growing up and distant relatives from all around would gather, share recipes, and sit down to fabulous family feasts. On this website, she shares recipes for some of those scrumptious meals.
